About Pairs Program
Pairs Mentorship and Networking Program by Hasoub is the leading community-based mentoring program that connects Arab students from the Tech field with mentors from the High-Tech sector due to the fact that Arab workers make up only 2% of tech companies while making up 20% of total population. The program was first launched in April 2021 with its first cohort having two cohorts each year.
The goal of PAIRS is to break down barriers between students and the Hi-Tech industry, give them the opportunity to get to know their future more closely, what to expect from them, how to plan a career, what to do and what is best not to do. We aim to create a community that supports and enables each other in and into the Hitech world.
Program Structure
Pairs Mentorship & Networking Program is open for registration twice a year and consists of three main stages: registration, interview, and academic records.
The pairing is done based on the mentee's goals and the mentor's expertise. Mentors will meet with their mentees over a 4 months period with 10 hours in total, with a focus on addressing specific jointly-identified challenges facing the mentee to start their career and get involved in the High-Tech sector. In addition, the program includes 4-5 workshops from experts in their field to enrich and give additional knowledge and skills.
Each cohort includes the following:
Opening Event
An opening event is held at a high tech company to welcome the students and kick off the program. This is where each mentee will meet their mentor for the first time and have their first session.
Mid-Cohort Meetup
A meetup which offers the opportunity for the participants to reunite again and a great opportunity to network and spark new connection for both the mentors and the mentees. Each group will have a workshop tailored to their needs.
Workshops
In addition to the 1-on-1 sessions, each cohort includes between 4 to 5 workshops which are held throughout the length of the cohort. The workshops are conducted by an expert of the workshop's field, and their intention is to provide for the mentees additional knowledge they can't gain from the mentor, equip them with sough-after skills in the field and are more career-oriented workshops.
Closing Event
To mark the culmination of the cohort, the participants are reunited for the last time for the special ceremony. To summarize the whole cohort, receive the certificates, and to say goodbye; usually held at a high tech company too (or we go for a trip or a hike!).
